Policy/Program Purpose

 

AADL's mandate is to assist individuals who have a chronic disability or illness and those who are end stage palliative to receive authorized basic medical equipment and supplies for independent functioning in a home or home-like setting. NOTE: The AADL Program provides benefits to eligible clients of all ages, and is not restricted to seniors.

Back & Hernia Supports, Bathing & Toileting Aids, Burnscar Garments, Compression Garments, Custom Made Footwear, Eye Prostheses, Graduated Pressure Stockings, Hearing Aids, Helmets & Wigs, Large Medical Equipment (i.e. patient lifts, commodes, beds, etc), Laryngectomy Supplies, Mastectomy Supplies, Medical Surgical Dressings, Orthotic Braces, Prosthetic Devices, Respiratory Therapy Equipment & Oxygen, Specialized Pediatric Equipment, Specialized Seating Equipment, Walking Aids, Wheelchairs, Wheelchair Accessories.

Cost shareClients are requested to cost share 25% of benefit items to a maximum contribution of $500 per benefit year. Other exemptions are individuals who receive Alberta Widow's Pension, Alberta Health Premium Subsidization, on Supports for Independence through Social Assistance or on Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped.
