SMALL THOUGHTFUL GESTURES: TAKING CARE OF OUR PARENT(S)

Just one little act of kindness could make a parent’s day…

1. Telephone just to say ‘good morning’
 
2. Send a postcard from your home city or business trip

3. Contact the hairdresser/barber and treat the next visit

4. Pop in early for dinner and bring a pizza or chicken pieces

5. Suggest going for an hour drive on a weekend afternoon

6. Enjoy an ice-cream cone together

7. Send a small plant or flowers or a shrub with a personal note

8. Sit and go through a family album together

9. Diagram the family tree and ask questions

10. Check the home for safety and try out a new piece of equipment

11. Offer to go and visit an old friend together

12. Don’t interrupt a story being told once again

13. Ask for an opinion and be attentive

14. Take a minute, eliminate the phrase “I’m too busy”

15. Snip an interesting news clipping and pop it in the mail

16. Extend an invitation to go to a special event in the area

17. Encourage if seeming despondent

18. Ask about old times and experiences and memories

19. Pick up a favorite movie video and spend an evening

20. Listen and laugh often together
