Home Adaptations for Seniors' Independence (HASI) program

A financial assistance program for minor home adaptations that will help low-income seniors to continue to perform daily activities in their home independently and safely. The Home Adaptations for Seniors' Independence program provides financial assistance to homeowners and landlords so that they can make home renovations that will benefit seniors.

Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) for Persons with Disabilities

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) offers financial assistance to allow homeowners and landlords to pay for modifications to make their property more accessible to persons with disabilities. These modifications are intended to eliminate physical barriers, imminent safety risks and improve the ability to meet the demands of daily living within the home.

Homeowner Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (Homeowner RRAP )

A financial assistance program to low-income homeowners for mandatory home repairs that will preserve the quality of affordable housing.

Emergency Repair Program (ERP)

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) offers financial assistance to help low-income households in rural areas, for emergency repairs (plumbing, doors, windows, etc) required for the continued safe occupancy of their home. Homeowners/occupants in rural areas whose incomes are at or below the established amounts set for the area are eligible to apply for financial assistance.

Special Assistance Programs For Disabilities

About 3.6 million Canadians have one or more disabilities. That's more than one in every eight Canadians. If you are:

  • a person living with a disability
  • caring for a person with a disability
  • a professional or community service provider who works with people with disabilities
  • a volunteer who helps people with disabilities

Renovation Program Pre-application Tool (Off-Reserve)

The Government of Canada, through CMHC, offers financial assistance through renovation programs to low-income households. In some areas of Canada, funding for these or similar programs is provided jointly by the Government of Canada, and the provincial or territorial government.
