Long-Term-Care:
Are your clients ready? If not, I'd love to hear your defense!
A Training Seminar for
Financial Planners and Insurance Agents
Real
story: US lawyer to his dad’s seasoned financial
planner, “My dad’s in a nursing home and paying
for it with his life savings, you have 15 minutes to produce evidence
that you recommended a LTC plan in general and LTC insurance in
particular”.
Not in Canada you say…consider the facts:
- Our country is in the midst of an age wave phenomenon--seniors
are our fastest growing population group;
- Over the next 25 years 1 in 4 Canadians will be over 60;
- 70% of family caregivers in our country are currently juggling
workplace and care demands with the impact of LTC and its related
costs rapidly becoming a major bottom-line concern for Canadian
companies;
- By 2010 (yes, our Winter Olympics year), 60% of our boomers
over 50 will have a surviving parent (vs. 16% in 1960) bringing
with that role the resulting emotional and financial responsibilities
severely affecting their lifestyles;
- Within this decade, as boomers will reach the age of 65 we
will have a new phenomenon in our country, seniors looking after
seniors (was this part of our retirement planning);
- In addition, we must not underestimate the power and up-coming
needs of the massive boomer-generation, who, at a time of lessening
resources and government programs, will be demanding quality
care for themselves;
-
Note
the government message over the recent few years: they are the
‘providers of last resort’—so who is the provider
of first resort;
- So the question remains, what are you going to do to prepare
your company and in turn, your clients for the financial challenges
of their care-years?
An educational training seminar for your company—start
thinking of LTC planning, including LTC insurance, as a solution
not a problem, as a business opportunity rather than another product.
Long-term care insurance is part of the 21st Century --is it time
for you and your business to adjust to the needs of our country’s
aging population?
